This article addresses the possibility of reframing what is understood as old age from the ongoing research “Strategic territories for older people: empowerment, inclusion and participation”, by knowing new approaches which comprehend the aging process, not as a stage of deficiencies, but of potentialities and empowerment. Elderly people are a diverse age group that is growing and is as important as young people to society. From this emerging approach, concerning old age through design and its role in dealing with social matters, ageing is addressed by activating and proposing themes, considering the existing relationship between the elderly and the municipalities through the services and workshops in which they participate. This is because, when mapping or visualizing the workshops and the places in which they are imparted, we can observe trends and interests of the elderly, highlighting also their way of self-organization in the territory. |
