Popis: | In the present work, waste marble powder was used to prepare the calcium based photo-catalysts. A successful synthesis was done by solid state method for the preparation of different photocatalysts which were characterized for the determination of related physical and chemical properties. Samples were analyzed by XRD, SEM, FTIR, UV-DRS and PL for the determination of chemical properties whereas SEM analysis was done for analyzing the structural morphology. A variety of calcium titanate were successfully synthesized using the solid state method and bringing variations during process synthesis such as by calcination temperature, sonication and use of either fresh or pre-calcined marble powder. The performance efficiency of the synthesized photocatalysts was also evaluated based on the photocatalytic degradation of congo red dye. It was found that the maximum degradation of 95.5% was obtained using photocatalyst CT 900 650 after 100 min of treatment at the dosage 1 g/L and 25 °C. Degradation follows first order rate kinetics and the rate constant (k) was found as 0.029 min−1. |
