Commercial spaceflight is an emerging industry for which a variety of non-space agency (non-agency) providers are developing services. In comparison to governmental astronaut spaceflight preparation, once commercial spaceflight participants (CSP) have committed to or been selected for commercial spaceflight, and have been appropriately screened, training and preparation duration is anticipated to be significantly shorter to enable viable business models to be employed. The question of what and how much training and preparation is required in order to enable a safe and enjoyable flight for CSPs is critical, for which presently there is no standardised approach or consensus to inform an answer. This is the identified research gap for this systematic review, which will be evaluated with respect to suborbital spaceflight. The aim is to collate and synthesise current methods of training and preparation for commercial suborbital spaceflight participants that have been employed and/or are proposed as suitable for suborbital flight. |
