Thermoluminescence properties of cerium and terbium doped alpha-strontium pyrophosphate

Popis: In this work, cerium and terbium doped strontium pyrophosphate (Sr2P2O7:Ce3+ and Sr2P2O7:Tb3+) materials were synthesized by solvent evaporation method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements confirm the formation of single and pure phase in both Ce3+ and Tb3+ doped Sr2P2O7 materials. Ce3+ (5d1 → 4f0) and Tb3+ (5D3 → 7FJ=5,4,3 and 5D4 → 7FJ=6,5,4,3) transitions are observed in the photoluminescence (PL) and radioluminescence (RL) spectra. Thermoluminescence (TL) glow curve of both Ce3+ and Tb3+ materials shows the formation of a well resolved peak 1 around 84–88 °C along with a shouldered peak 2 around 150–156 °C. Some TL properties of both Ce3+ and Tb3+ doped Sr2P2O7 materials are analyzed using the whole TL glow curve and the isolated peak 2, which was isolated by preheating the samples at 130 °C with a 2 °C/s heating rate. The isolated peak 2 of both Sr2P2O7:Ce3+ and Sr2P2O7:Tb3+ compounds shows good TL properties.
