WALSH, Kooptzoff, Lancaster and Price (1953) reported the blood groups of 498 New Guinea natives who were resident near Port Moresby. A further series of 562, all members of the Pacific Islands Regiment, have since been examined. The results are presented in this paper and in addition have been combined with the earlier series. The distribution of the various phenotypes has been compared in several administrative districts, and the combined results are listed in a table which shows the number of subjects with similar groupings. In the earlier papers differences in the distribution of the ABO and MNS groups according to the language spoken by the subjects were demonstrated. As these differences were clearly significant, a similar analysis of the third series has not been undertaken. |
