Summary Getting the image of the basement has always been challenging, due to its complex lithology, low seismic resolution, and low signal to noise ratio. Many techniques of advanced seismic attributes are developed in order to see the fracture network, however it is often difficult to distinguish fractures from artefacts. We have previously developed a tool called Network Tortuosity Decomposition (NTD) which has been successfully deployed to many basement explorations. However, this tool is limited to 2D operator in performing the algorithm and sometimes may miss the fracture information because fractures are 3D by nature. This paper discusses the concept and methodology on the enhancement to 3D operator, which can reveal clearer images of the fracture network in the basement. |
