Popis: Low temperature ionic liquids (LTILs) are widely investigated recent years as replacement for environmentally hazardous volatile organic solvents (VOS). They are highly solvating liquids, composed of bulky cations and anions, which dissolve many organic and inorganic substances. Their unique peculiarities such as non-volatility, non-flammability, low melting points, high thermal stability in a wide temperature range, relatively low viscosity, inexpensivity to manufacture and so on have attracted interests of investigators from industrial and academic research centers from all around the world. In the last few years there appeared a lot of papers and patents, devoted to preparation methods, solvent properties and application of ionic liquids as a solvents in different processes. This review presents an overview of some published results of these investigations concerning preparation methods and solvent properties of low temperature ionic liquids.
