Popis: In order to realize a neural network, an optical waveguide having a memory effect was fabricated by using a core layer containing a photochromic material "diarylethene". An optical neural networks using waveguides having a memory effect, photodiodes and LEDs have been proposed. The transmittance of green light was decreased by UV light irradiation and recovered by the passage of green light through the waveguide. From the analysis and modeling of the optical response, a method to reduce the response time in millisecond order has been proposed.
