Popis:	Women who felt they had received the divine calling to spread the gospel faced considerable barriers in the early nineteenth century, when females were not yet appointed by the directors of missionary societies. However, a few British women managed to exercise their mission in the Russian Empire. This chapter examines the ways in which British evangelicals, Jean Paterson (1783–1820), Sarah Stallybrass (1789–1833), and Sarah Kilham (b. 1788) contributed to evangelism.
