In past few years, Renewable energy resources have received attention across the globe. Among all sustainable energy resources, solar is most economical and clean energy resource. For maximum power fetching from the photovoltaic (PV) system, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) application is playing a key role in developing the highly efficient energy system. In this paper, a nonlinear backstepping sliding mode control (BSMC) MPPT paradigm is proposed to extract the maximum power from the PV system. Non-inverting case of DC-DC buck-boost converter is utilized between load and PV array. Generalized regression neural network (GRNN) is trained on V mpp matrix for generation of reference. The performance of proposed BSMC controller is evaluated in MATLAB/Simulink software. Moreover, developed nonlinear control scheme is checked in rapidly varying conditions and faulty conditions in comparison to fundamental MPPT techniques i.e. perturb and observe (P&O) and proportional integral derivative (PID). |
