Popis: The multiply scattered light intensity was mea.ured when a narrow laser beam illuminated a turbid medium.The position of the pointlike effective diffusive source appeared to be unexpectedly deep. It isimportant in diffusing-wave spectroscopy. kYORMULATION OF THE PROBLEMThe traditional use of the photon correlation technique deals with measurements of the temporal autocor..relation function of scattered light in the conditions of single scattering, when a scattering medium remainstransparent for light and its optical thickness -y satinifes the relation C 1 (where 7 = DII, D — the samplediameter, I — the photon mean free path in the medium). The interpretation of results of a single scattering experiment is not difficult: from the value of the initial slope of the autocorrelation function of the scattered light intensity one can easily calculate the seif-diffasion coefficient for Browxuait scatterers, which is related to their mean diameter and the medium visty'.
