Structure of Patinopecten Yessoensis Shell is a Biomimetic Example of Composite

Popis: Shell is a natural composite material with excellent mechanical property. it is a model of biomimetic composites. In the paper, the morphology of the scallop (patinopecten yessoensis) shell was observed by SEM. The results are shown that the shell is composed by the tertiary structure. The primary one is the layered structure, the secondary one is prism-shaped fibre cluster similar to rectangle and end of arrow shaped, tertiary structure is lathy fibre, angle-shaped fibre, prism shaped fibre and scales. The tough structure of shell has reference value for bionic, this is also the purpose of the microscopic structure model of scallop shell in the paper.
