Popis: Systolic time intervals (STI) are frequently employed for the noninvasive assessment of cardiovascular performance. Left ventricular ejection time (LVET), when corrected for the effects of heart rate (HR), has been correlated with stroke volume (SV) in man under a variety of conditions (1). Attempts to utilize STI for an estimation of invasively determined indices of cardiac function have resulted in the Harley equation (2) for SV: SV = 0.501 (LVET) + 0.13 (HR) − 67.2; and the Garrard formula (3) for ejection fraction (EF): EF = 1.125 — (1.25 · pre-ejection period PEP/LVET).
