Popis: | Desert Archaeology, Inc., under contract to the Salt River Project (SRP), has completed archaeological monitoring of trench and other excavations for a new buried 69kV conduit associated with the new Shaw Substation. The substation is located southwest of the southwest corner of the intersection of Lower Buckeye Road and Fifty-ninth Avenue, within the Phoenix, Arizona city limits. The excavations were conducted primarily by SRP West Valley Distribution Design, and consisted of 289 m of backhoe trenches cut within the City of Phoenix right-of-way on the west side of Fifty-ninth Avenue, south of Lower Buckeye Road. In addition, excavation of a vault for a manhole was performed by SRP, and ancillary tie-in trenches totaling 38 m in length were dug by both SRP and a subsurface boring subcontractor. Archaeological monitoring was carried out by Thomas Prang on 15-18 March 2000, by Kathy Henderson on 20 March 2000, and by Kevin Frison on 23-25 and 27-29 March 2000, under the authority of Arizona State Museum Permit Number 2000-76ps. |
