Compared the childhood history and current psychosocial functioning of a group of mothers of infants with nonorganic failure to thrive (NOFT) with a group of mothers of thriving infants. The mothers of the NOFT babies reported more caregiver instability and crises during childhood. With respect to current psychosocial functioning, the mothers of the NOFT babies reported feeling more depressed, reported more negative life stress, had less optimal social networks, and had a more negative perception of their babies. |
