Results obtained by solvent adsorption on well-defined surfaces of electrode materials yield insights into the electrochemical properties of electrode–electrolyte interfaces, and can be linked to atomistic electrochemical concepts as well as theoretical calculations. This contribution presents results of low temperature adsorption of different solvents on thin film LiCoO 2 model electrodes, and elaborates surface chemistry, double layer formation, and electronic interface structure. The results are discussed with respect to experimental and theoretical oxidation potentials. |
