Popis: The Humanitarian Water and Food Award (WAF) identifies and promotes initiatives that have, in a sustainable and innovative way, brought water and food security to areas in distress. For many of the nominated initiatives, the foundation of their strategy for success has been reclaiming land, and indeed, reclaiming their relationship with the land, among the people involved, its climate, geography, plants, and animals. WAF adopt the concept of indigenuity (a combination of indigenous and ingenuity ) in a holistic approach to describe the types of initiatives that are integrally developing sustainable relations between people and its ecosystems. This section presents a series of case studies of organizations that were WAF finalists to illustrate how developing an intimate knowledge of the land, rethinking agricultural practices, redefining the role of schools, and finding new ways to cooperate, new roles for corporations, and new attitudes to grazing animals, rain, and water can contribute to restoring land and food security.
