Popis: | Power transformers are subjected to surge overvoltages during routine tests and in exploitation. These overvoltages pose a threat to the transformer internal insulation system and may lead to the transformer failure. Application of electrostatic shields to the transformer multilayer winding to improve its surge behavior is discussed in this paper. The analysis of surge overvoltage propagation inside an experimental layer type winding of power transformer equipped with two electrostatic shields was presented based on measurement results. Various configurations of the shield connections were considered, including floating and polarized ones. The influence of location of the shields and polarization to the winding tabs on the magnitude and distribution of surge overvoltages was investigated and the shielding effectiveness was discussed. |
