An application of 100 MW DFIG based wind model for damping oscillation in SMIB

Popis: In this paper, the impact of Rotor Side converter (RSC) and Grid Side Converter (GSC) controllers of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) wind farm have been analyzed by interlacing it to Single Synchronous Generator Connected to Infinite Bus (SMIB) via short transmission line called Modified SMIB. Performance analysis has been done in between SMIB, Modified SMIB with open-loop (MSMIB) and closed loop controllers of DFIG (MSMIBC) at different operating points and wind speed. On the basis of this detail analysis, the phase compensation method is employed using state space approach to designed a damping controller at d-axis of GSC controller of DFIG wind farm to mitigate the oscillations in SMIB. The validity and effectiveness of proposed Modified System as well as its auxiliary damping controller were demonstrated using eigenvalues, participation factor and time domain simulation.
