Popis:	The usual bases for reconstructions of Leonardo's Battle of Anghiari have been preliminary sketches of the Battle for the Standard and various drawings. Other sources that should be emphasized are contemporary dispatches from the field of battle; Leonardo's personal knowledge of the terrain; two cassone panels portraying the same subject; and the description of the battle in the Codex Atlanticus. A reflection of the mural's components and composition may exist in a marble battle relief on the tomb of Louis XII of France. The scene parallels events in the Codex narrative and relates stylistically to some of Leonardo's studies.
