Popis: | In this paper we numerically examine steady laminar double-diffusive natural convection in a rectangular enclosure filled with binary gas due to the combined horizontal temperature and concentration gradients for opposing flow. Two kinds of enclosures are used (A=1 and 0.5). In particular, the buoyancy ratio is varied, and all other parameters are held constant (Pr=1, RaT=105 and Le=2). The numerical solution is found to depend on the initial condition in the transition from a thermal-dominated flow to a compositional-dominated flow and vice versa. That is, flow hysteresis effects are observed and two distinct solutions are presented for a given buoyancy ratio. |
