Popis: Larvae of the western corn rootworm, Diabrotica virgifera LeConte, survived for a minimum of 10 days on 9 of 22 species of grasses tested in the laboratory. Larvae developed into adults on Minter wheat, Triticum aestivum L., and green foxtail grass, Setaria viridis (L.) Beauv. In the greenhouse, tests conducted with Minter and Selkirk wheat indicated that both were in the host range of the insect. In field tests larvae survived and developed on green and yellow foxtail grass, S. lutescens (Weigel) Hubb.; Minter wheat; Omugi barley, Hordeum vulgare L.; Oahe intermediate wheatgrass, Agropyron intermedium (Host); and corn, Zea mays L. Adult rootworms were recovered from all hosts.
