Popis: An antifreeze solution of methyl alcohol and ethylene glycol has been used to prevent freezing in precipitation gages. The antifreeze solution is self-mixing when the addition of water or ice causes an increase in density. The solution has been tested successfully to −40C in recording storage precipitation gages for varying proportions of methyl alcohol and ethylene glycol.
