Popis: An electronic optical imaging system consisting of a computer-controlled CCD array with 576*384 detection elements and 14 bits of digitization is presented. The system is used for in-vivo characterization of laser-tissue interactions by obtaining spatially resolved transmission images as a function of wavelength with a resolution on the order of 10 mu m from tissue structure using the hamster flap model. Fluorescence images of the hamster tissue excited with argon laser light at 457.9 nm before and as a function of time after injection of the photosensitizing drug Photofrin II are described, The system is also used to obtain internal and external intensity distributions for optical fiber tips proposed for use with photodynamic therapy and laser angioplasty. >
