The work deals with the comparison of three different approaches to the semibatch distillation column control design. First short description of the process is given. For control purposes the reduced order multivariable model was developed. Inverse Nyquist array technique, pole assignment and decoupling method are most frequently used for the design of multivariable control. So the state feedback decoupling controller in the combination with observer and univariable PI controllers, output feedback pole assignment multivariable PI controller and regulator for achieving diagonal dominance (using INA technique) together with univariable PI controllers were designed. For each of this approaches only the main design ideas are briefly discussed. Efficacy of developed controllers for the real pilot 9lant is shown through hybrid simulation where the system was realized on analog-hybrid computer EAI-S8G and controllers on the digital computer PDP 11/34. In the present phase of the study all discussed approaches give acceptable results. For the final decision about the most suitable control strategy some more measurements on the plant is needed. |
