Popis: | The young Finnish boreal forest has a very high potential of bioenergy as it stored considerable amount of biomass. The measurements of tree height and diameter is very crucial since they have a direct effect on quantification of biomass. The tree height measurement is comparatively difficult and time consuming compared to stem diameter. Hence, we studied 5 different H-D models to predict tree height using stem diameter as an independent variable. We used ‘nls’ function in R to find coefficient of parameters in the model. Further, we performed paired t-test and other statistics to find best model among five. Based on the statistics and criteria Larson model fitted best in our data. So, we conclude that Larson model can be used to predict tree height from stem diameter locally specific to our study area. However, we recommend that any model from this study cannot be used without being validated in other geographical area.
