Popis: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Virginia Tech (VT) hosted a workshop entitled “Measuring Up to Sustainable Water" on September 9 – 10, 2010 in Falls Church, Virginia. The workshop identified opportunities and knowledge gaps relative to critical areas of sustainable water including: Track-1: Infrastructure, Track-2: Membranes and Track-3: Emerging Contaminants. Invited attendees include researchers from academia, industry, and federal institutions. The goal of the workshop was to develop a prioritization for fundamental and applied research at federal institutions and entities funding research in sustainable water. The key question of the workshop, was “What are we concerned about, what do we want to measure, and how?” A prioritized agenda for research, training and education was produced for each of the three identified critical areas. The prioritized agenda was based on invited presentations and structured discussion. This paper presents the workshop outcome related to Track-1: Sustainable Water Infrastructure.
