Popis: The paper presents selected problems relating to ensuring trial continuity and concentration of evidence in criminal cases. An analysis of the relevant Polish norms, conducted from the point of view of legal solutions applied in other countries – which solutions deserve attention in the author’s view – encourage the author to attempt to formulate several conclusions relating to desirable legislative amendments. If introduced, they might contribute to strengthening the implementation of principles of trial continuity and evidence concentration, thus facilitating the criminal procedure. Apart from the comparative law aspects, the paper contains remarks about the individual mechanisms provided for in the Polish Code of Criminal Procedure, which mechanisms influence the principles of trial continuity and evidence concentration. It also presents conclusions aimed at optimizing the existing legal solutions. In the author’s view, it seems unjustifiable to retain an express possibility of adjourning the trial in order to enable the parties to prepare motions relating to evidence.
