Popis:	The first asymmetric synthesis of (trifluoromethyl)pipecolic acids is reported. The synthetic strategy involves as key step an intramolecular Mannich reaction of a homochiral α-Tfm-β-amino ketal, prepared with a high stereoselectively in four steps from a fluoral hemiacetal.
