Popis: Summary In theory, the amplitude increase of seismic waves passing through the soft soil layers is known as soil amplification. In practice, the term of soil amplification is used to identify the differences in the ground motions between two near-ground. A strong relationship between the shear wave velocity and site amplification has been demonstrated by various researchers. In this study, the probable soil amplifications in the study area were determined by different suggested emprical equations which are related the average shear wave velocities. The results are shown on GIS based zonation maps. Created zonation maps are indicate that the northern sides of the study area covered by Lower Carboniferous aged sandstones and greywackes does not present a hazard to the site amplification. However, there are some local areas in the southern parts have moderate risk.
