From exotic techniques some years ago, capillary-based electromigration techniques coupled to mass spectrometry have emerged as a routine tool for many applications. This is mainly due to the relevant selectivity of CE and the access to (commercialized) routine online coupling to sophisticated mass spectrometry instrumentation. In the first part of this chapter, various coupling techniques are summarized with major focus on electrospray interfaces using both sheath liquid and sheathless approaches. In the second part, methodological aspects combined with respective application are presented covering both dedicated CE-MS systems and various approaches to combine ESI-interfering electrolytes with mass spectrometry. |
