Popis: Introduction: Exacerbations are an important outcome measure in COPD and recurrent events are of particular importance. Analysis of recurrent events provides an optimal evaluation of treatment effect. Aims and objectives: We report the results of a post-hoc analysis on recurrent events of the TRIBUTE study comparing BDP/FF/G vs Indacaterol/Glycopyrronium (IND/GLY) in COPD patients. Methods: We applied Wei, Lin, Weissfeld (WLW) method for multiple failure time data; Cox proportional hazard model was estimated for three strata (i.e. the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd events were considered). We present both combined estimates and stratum-specific estimates. Results: Compared to IND/GLY, BDP/FF/G significantly prolonged the time to exacerbation (HR 0.84), with the effect size becoming greater for multiple events i.e. time to second exacerbation (HR: 0.80) and time to third exacerbation (HR: 0.58) (Table 1). Conclusions: These results complement and further support the superior clinical benefit of extrafine BDP/FF/G compared to IND/GLY in delaying the time to exacerbation and, more importantly, the time to recurrence of exacerbations.
