Popis: Neuroendocrine regulatory processes have been intensively studied, and a considerable amount of data has accumulated on the central regulatory mechanisms involved in the control of pituitary hormone release. Special attention has been given to monoamines and peptides of central origin that act as neurotransmitters and neuromodulators, and there are several reviews summarizing the large amount of information on this important topic (1–5). Nevertheless, many results dealing with the effects of various neuroactive substances on the secretion of individual pituitary hormones are controversial and need further elucidation.
