Popis:	Three main pathways of soil evolution under irrigation are distinguished, depending on the initial soil conditions, the quality of irrigation water and the farming system. Degradation processes that can occur under adverse irrigation conditions are characterized, and a system of criteria and parameters is proposed for assessing the situation, the extent and nature of degradation of irrigated land.
