Popis: Regulatory cellular process of mesenchymal stem cell remains to be explicated in diseased condition. On the other hand, platelet-derived growth factors (PDGFs) are known to shape the migratory movements of the mesenchymal cells during stressful conditions. The objective of the current study is to understand the role of Recombinant Platelet-Derived Growth Factors-BB (rhPDGF-BB) towards proliferation and migration of Human Dental Pulp Stem Cells (hDPSC). The cytotoxicity of rhPDGF-BB was assessed at various doses and its chemotactic response was measured by experimental wound scratch test. The recombinant protein did not show cytotoxicity at higher doses. It was found that rhPDGF-BB is a strong inducer of indiscriminate as well as directional migration of hDPSCs that persisted upon 24hrs. Thus, the experiment demonstrates critical use of rhPDGF-BB in regenerative process during dental pulp stem injury.
