Popis: | The asphalt industry has invested in recycling asphalt pavement (RAP) as an economical and environmental alternative to conventional materials, creating a cycle of reusing materials that optimizes the use of natural resources. Biomaterials as additives help promoting the optimal use of RAP. The present work carried out a study aiming at the development of alternative organic additives as potentially useful materials that can act as a rejuvenating agent for oxidized RAP asphalts. For this purpose, cotton seed oil and fatty acid amides from cotton seed oil sources prepared in the laboratory were applied as an additive to evaluate their effect on RAP rejuvenation. The feasibility of using these additives was investigated through performance evaluation of binders and their corresponding mixture with respect to their rheological properties instead. The fatty acid amides of the cotton seed oil were able to rejuvenate the oxidized binders when analyzing the rheological parameters G* and δ, besides favoring resistance to fatigue. The results also indicate the possibility of adding value to oils from the northeastern region of Brazil, generating social benefits. |
