Popis: Just a few years ago, it was unimaginable for us that there might be a way to devise a direct connection between the human brain and computer. The process of building fully functional, cybernetic brain-computer communication interfaces (BCI) is currently attracting more and more attention. Automatic performance of activities by means of BCI technology is possible owing to appropriate acquisition and processing of mind signals. State-of-the-art interfaces which do not require human physical activity (in the context of healthcare) provide an opportunity for the disabled to live independent lives. This paper aims to present and evaluate the potential of the available brain-computer interfaces in terms of incentivizing people with disabilities to lead independent lives.
