Using Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria as case studies, the chapter highlights opportunities and gaps in policymaking in the two West African economies with respect to science, technology and innovation policy theory and practice. The discourse builds on the latest advances in innovation policy theory and practice in order to offer a more structured view of African countries’ potentials for better-informed innovation policymaking decisions and for more impactful innovation investments.
