This study will compare different mediation and moderation models to determine how different variables explain academic performance. Specifically, mindset, school burnout, effort beliefs, and meritocracy beliefs are all variables of interest that will be included. These models will be compared to each other to determine the best fitting model, after which the paths in the best fitting model will be given an interpretation. This study will also attempt to replicate previous findings showing that socioeconomic status moderates the relation between meritocracy beliefs and academic performance. |
