Centers of discharge of the Vendian-Motian complex of the Angara-Lena artesian basin and their role in the formation of oil and gas deposits

Popis:	Theories for formation of and classification of centers of discharge of subsurface waters and brines under pressure are reviewed. The geological formations of the Vendian-Motian complex which occurs over the whole area of the Angara-Lena artesian basin are discussed. Both open and closed centers of discharge of salt waters and brines in the basin have been reported. The two types of discharge centers are related to the hydrogeology of the basin, and the zones of possible hydraulic link between all the complexes and of discharge of brines of the Vendian-Motian complex along the boundary of occurrence of the water-resisting salt-bearing rocks are established from hydrodynamic and hydrochemical data. The evidence of both open and hidden discharge sites in the basin gives ground for predicting the potential of oil and gas deposits and commercial brines in this complex. The most favorable zone for accumulation is predicted to be in the periphery of the Angara-Lena artesian basin. (BLM)
