The phytotoxicity of two sequential spray applications of the grass herbicide, fluazifop‐p, was determined on nine protea species. Fluazifop‐p, at 2.3, 4.5, and 18.0 g a.i./litre, was sprayed onto mature protea plants and a grassy weed, kikuyu grass (Pennisetum clandestinum Hochst. ex Chiov.), in a spray‐to‐drip application. There was no unacceptable crop injury from the 2.3 and 4.5 g a.i./litre spray applications. Unacceptable injury was recorded on three proteas (Banksia prionotes Lindley., Banksia victoriae Meisn. and Banksia speciosa R. Br.) with the 18.0 g a.i./ litre treatment. Kikuyu grass was controlled with fluazifop‐p at 4.5 and 18.0 ga.i./l. |
