Surgical treatment of the inguinal hernia in newborns and infants by PIRS method

Popis:	Questions of the laparoscopic management of the inguinal hernia in newborns and infants of the first year of life are still discussed. The results of laparoscopic hernia repair using PIRS (Percutaneous Internal Ring Suturing) method in 57 newborns and infants of the first year of life were analyzed. The minilaparoscopic equipment (with the diameter 2-3 mm) was applied in all patients during surgery. There are any complications during surgery. During one year follow-up only one patient (1.9%) had the residual hydrocele. Results of investigation confirmed the safety and the efficacy of PIRS method in the treatment of inguinal hernia in infants.
