Popis: | Microchannel plate image intensifier tubes read out by a linear photodiode array are becoming increasingly popular for the detection of weak sources of optical emission in the range 200 to 900 nm. Examples include fluorescence, Raman, plasma emission, and time-resolved spectroscopy. In many cases the spectroscopist may be looking for weak lines in the presence of a large continuum black body or fluorescence background. In such cases weak lines may be lost in the baseline noise due to channel-to-channel gain variation in the micro-channel plate image intensifier tube. The following is a technique for normalizing the intensifier gain and correcting spectra for gain variation. |
