This paper presented an inverse method of moisture and roughness of wet soil ,which is based upon the small perturbationscattering model, the Kirchhoff model, integral equation model and the model of wet soil. Analysis and inversion examplesshow that this inverse method is feasible and effective. Keywords Microwave remote sensing, Inversion 1.INTRODUCTION The moisture of wet soil and the roughness of the bare soil surfaces are two different kinds of parameters about bare soil, i.e.electromagnetic and geometric parameters. The moisture and the complex diclectric constant of wet soil are electromagneticparameters. The roughness of the bare soil surfaces, such as the variance of the surfaces, the autocorrelation function andautocorrelation length of the surfaces, are the geometric parameters, as the bare soil surfaces can be considered as randomlyrough surfaces. Inversion for moisture and roughness of bare soil surfaces by using remote sensing is interesting and difficulttopic, but it is useful to agriculture and animal husbandry. This paper presented inverse method of moisture and roughness ofwet soil ,which is based upon the small perturbation scattering model[4J, the Kirchhoff scattering model[4], integral equationmodel[3] and the model of wet soil[2]. The remote sensing equipment is a muti-frequency radar or SAR system with twokinds of polarization. This system can measure the backscattering coefficients of different incident angles and differentpolarization in order to satisfy the requirement to inverse moisture and roughness of wet soil.
