Popis: Our objective was to evaluate how SCC (somatic cell counting) and TBC (total count bacteria) can affect milk quality on milk herds in south of Rio Grande do Sul State. The samples were collected in 103 milk farms, cooled to 4oC and send to LABLEITE, Embrapa-CPACT - Brazil, for SCC analysis and the TBC ones at the Infectious Diseases Vet Lab, of UFPEL. The results showed SCC above one million of cells/mL in 6.8% of samples and 41.75% above 400,000 cells/mL, maximum value with is required by IN 51 - MAPA to 2011. Regarding TBC, were found 40.78% of samples above one million of cells/mL and 65,02% above 100,000 cells/mL to TBC. These results indicated the requirement in technical and farmer training to improve milk quality and to bring Brazilian milk into international business markets.
