Popis: | Royal jelly was taken from queen cells of honey bees, Apis mellifera L., 24, 38, 48 and 72 hr after grafting. Worker larvae, approximately 1 day old, were reared on these materials in incubators at 34 ± 1 ° C and 100% RH during the larval stage, and 60% RH during the pupal stage. All adults developed on jelly taken 48 hr after grafting were classified as queens. Royal jelly taken from queen cells 38 hr after grafting and stored at -10° C for 9 to 10 months, or taken 48 hr after grafting and exposed to ultraviolet rays for 2 hr, also produced queens. All but 3 adults produced on royal jelly of other ages were intermediate forms or Workers. |
