Frequency Distribution of ABO and Rh Blood Groups among Donors Attending Blood Bank of a Tertiary Care Hospital in Western UP

Popis: | A Retrospective study was carried out in blood bank of a tertiary health care hospital in western UP over a period of five years from January 2011 to December 2015. A total of 28083 subjects were studied to determine the frequency distribution of ABO and Rh (D). Blood group B was found to be the most common among the subjects with frequency of 36.99% followed by group O (28.97%), A(23.70%) and then AB(10.33%). For Rh (D) positive it was B(34.77%), O(27.20%), A (922.11%) and AB (9.70%). While for Rh negative B(2.22%), O(1.77%), A(1.59%) and AB(0.63%). Among the total subjects 26338(93.78%) were Rh (D) positive and 1745(6.21%) Rh(D) negative within the age range of 18–60 years. |
