Popis: The kinetics of recombination of an initially random distribution of electrons and holes is discussed for the cases where the carriers are completely or nearly immobile because of localisation due to disorder. A one dimensional Monte-Carlo method is used to simulate the decay of photoluminescence following pulse excitation over a range of initial carrier densities. Lifetime distributions are also derived for comparison with FRS data. The effect on the decay of increasing temperature is discussed as the reaction goes from tunnelling to diffusion limited. The steady state situation is approached via a two dimensional simulation which shows how the clustering effects which dominate the decay grow to yield two separate clusters, one of holes and one of electrons.
