Popis: | As the title suggests, this book is by nature of a supplement to two previous publications, The Retarded Child and Training the Backward Child. The author intends the reader to be familiar with the earlier books. The present work is concerned with Miss Loewy's experiences in her small residential school for backward girls and she directs herself to "teachers, parents, and all concerned with the welfare of backward children." The volume is divided into five sections: 1) General; 2) Sex and the Backward Child; 3) Delinquency and the Backward Child; 4) More About Education; and 5) Case Book. American readers will experience some difficulty with the British terminology as well as some of the problems and suggestions. The stated attempt to avoid medical terms mystifies rather than simplifies. |
