This paper presents two different switching techniques based on space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) for a two-level five-phase voltage source inverter. The first technique is the large SVPWM and the second technique is the large-medium combination SVPWM. These two techniques are validated in simulation and experimental results. Two-level five phase voltage source inverter (VSI) is essentially used to drive five-phase machine which is utilized for high power applications. Space vector modulation is necessitated to choose appropriate space vectors to improve the output voltage of five phase inverter. It is well-known that low order harmonics are created by d3-q3 sub-plane and appeared in d1-q1 fundamental sub-plane. Results showed that low order harmonics can be minimized significantly by using a combination of a large and medium space vectors. |
